Rain possible in the Kansas City area followed by summer’s heat and humidity
Highs are expected to climb into the low to mid-80s Wednesday across the Kansas City metro area as a little extra cloud cover moves in, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“There may be a stray shower or two bubbling up late in the day, but our better chances for rain arrives early tomorrow morning and again late on Friday carrying over into Saturday,” said Ritter who provides weather updates to The Star. “By no means is it going to be a total washout.”
The bigger takeaway, Ritter said, is that the metro area is going to switch away from the low humidity and below average temperatures back to the heat and high humidity with temperatures back in the upper 80s through the weekend and 90s next week.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The National Weather Service in Kansas City said no severe weather is expected with the scattered storms that are possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
However, severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon into the evening, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats, according to the weather service.
Off-and-on thunderstorms are possible through the weekend, but the threat of severe weather is low.
