Gear up for a hot, sunny Father’s Day in Kansas City before thunderstorms return
Plenty of heat and sunshine is expected Sunday in Kansas City. But the clear skies will soon make way for thunderstorms overnight into Monday.
Sunday, which is Father’s Day, will see a high near 91 degrees and 80% humidity as clouds stay away for much of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
The air will cool off overnight, dropping near 70. Storms with high winds and heavy rain are possible after 10 p.m.
The chance of rain will hang around most of the day Monday, according to the weather service. There’s a 50% chance of thunderstorms during the day as the high nears 86 degrees. A 20% chance of showers and storms continues into the evening as the low drops to 65.
Slightly cooler weather is on the horizon Tuesday, which will likely be mostly sunny with a high around 81.
The daylight hours of Wednesday and Thursday will be much of the same, with plenty of sun and highs in the mid-80s and low 90s, respectively.
Some showers and thunderstorms are again possible in the evening hours of Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service.
The chance of daytime storm returns Friday and Saturday.
