Rain, thunderstorms expected in Kansas City as active weather pattern returns

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected in Kansas City on Friday as an active weather pattern returns to the metro, said Fox 4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“Later on today, we’re going to have off-and-on rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, but it’s not going to rain all day long and at times we may even have a few peeks of sunshine,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“Not everybody is going to see rain this morning,” she said.

Highs on Friday are expected to be in the lower 80s.

“We are expecting another couple of rounds of storms before the end of the weekend,” Ritter said. “It looks like tomorrow we will see more off-and-on rain.”

Father’s Day looks mostly dry but as the day unfolds, highs could climb into the upper 80s, which could fuel strong storms in the evening. There’s a chance some of the storms could become severe late Sunday into early Monday. Sunshine is expected to return Monday afternoon, Ritter said.
