Hot and breezy in KC Wednesday. Expect rain for Father’s Day weekend
It will be a hot and breezy day Wednesday in the Kansas City metro area, FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter said.
“Later on today we are going to see our temperatures topping out in the lower 90s,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “It’s going to be a hot day. It’ll be breezy at times.”
There should be plenty of sunshine with just a few clouds arriving late in the afternoon, she said.
“As we look ahead at the rest of the forecast, it’s going to be a little cooler,” Ritter said. “Friday through Sunday we will have highs in the lower to mid-80s. Rain chances also return on Friday and we are anticipating those rain chances to go down just in time for Father’s Day.”
The National Weather Service in Kansas City said in a tweet that Wednesday will be a good day to do yard work.
“Today is the best day to get those outdoor chores done, but you will also have time tomorrow before storms return,” the weather service said. “It is still on the warm side though both days, so make sure you are staying hydrated and taking some breaks.”
When Kansas City’s high hit 90 degrees Tuesday, that was the ninth time this month for the metro to see 90-degree weather, making this month so far the 11th warmest June on record. The normal high for this time of year in Kansas City is the middle 80s, according to the weather service.
No severe weather is expected with the thunderstorms this weekend.
