Some in KC metro may see ‘deluge’ of rain as temps struggle to break mid-70s Thursday
It’ll be a stormy day in the Kansas City area as thunderstorms are expected to roll through the metro Thursday, bringing drenching rains for some, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“It’s going to be a rainy day today,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “For some, it’s going to be a big deluge of rain. For others, your may not see nearly as much.”
An active narrow swath of storms is expected to develop over the area. Depending where it sets up, some people could see 1 to 2 inches, possibly more, of rain if they are caught underneath one of the storms, she said.
“Bottom line guys, we are going to have to watch the creeks, the streams, the rivers,” Ritter said. “They’re already starting to get swollen and wherever that band sets up there may be a little bit of a flash flooding concern.”
Sunshine might also mix in with the storms as highs struggle to clear the mid-70s Thursday afternoon.
The good news, Ritter said, is that the extended forecast is looking better, drier and warmer as temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s next week.
