Stormy weather looms for Kansas City, with cloudy skies in forecast this week
It’ll be another gray day in the Kansas City area Tuesday as storms loom in the forecast for Memorial Day weekend, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We are going to be fighting clouds once again with very few peeks of sunshine in the forecast and afternoon highs in the upper 60s,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
“Here in town we are hoping we can squeak out some sunshine late in the afternoon and early evening, but we’re probably going have to wait until the next couple days for maybe a little bit better chance for warmer weather and a few more peeks of sun,” she said.
The cloudy weather will persist through the end of the week, with highs climbing to the upper 60s on Wednesday and then the 70s on Thursday and Friday. Highs will reach into the 80s this weekend, she said.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said the chance for showers and thunderstorms returns late Thursday into Friday. On-and-off showers and storms will continue through the Memorial Day weekend.
The risk of severe weather is low at this time, the weather service said.
