Several days of rain storms, and possibly hail, headed to Kansas City this week

Wednesday marks the beginning of four straight days of storms in the Kansas City area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“We will have a chance for showers and storms basically later this morning through the middle part of the day and then maybe a little lull heading into the evening,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“It’s not going to rain all day long, but we certainly have those chances in the forecast,” she added.

Rain and thunderstorms are possible through Saturday in the Kansas City metro, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

Tuesday’s temperatures could climb into the upper 60s, with the overnight low dipping just a few degrees lower, into the mid-60s.

There’s a chance of strong to severe storms Thursday in the Kansas City area as the high reaches into the upper 70s, Ritter said.

“Our biggest concern with storms tomorrow is going to be with the hail size, the damaging wind potential and the possibility with slow-moving storms, a little minor flooding,” Ritter said.

A 60% chance of storms continues both Friday and Saturday, with highs in the mid-70s both days.

How we did this story

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

That very active weather pattern will continue through Saturday, with the chance of storms finally letting up Sunday.

“But we’re trending warmer and drier next week,” Ritter said.
