32-year-old man killed in wreck in Raytown Tuesday afternoon
Update: This story has been updated to include additional details of the crash released Tuesday night by the highway patrol.
A 32-year-old man was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Raytown after his car crossed the center median, striking a tree, another vehicle and a traffic light post, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. Raytown police officers were called to the scene at the intersection of Raytown Road and Gregory Boulevard.
Three vehicles had been involved in the wreck.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was requested to conduct the investigation.
According to an online crash report from the highway patrol, a southbound 2006 Dodge Charger crossed the median and struck a tree, which then struck the front of a 2013 Ford Fusion. The Dodge car then traveled into the northbound lanes and struck the front of another vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Camry. It went off the road, hit a traffic light post and came to a stop, the report noted.
The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was identified by the highway patrol as Donald F. Hicks.
Raytown police said at least one other driver in another vehicle had minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash was ongoing.
