Strong to severe thunderstorms threaten Kansas City area as rounds of rain expected
It’ll be mostly dry in the Kansas City area Tuesday but a change in weather is threatening to bring rounds of rain and strong to severe storms to the metro, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today, we are going to be fighting clouds and the cool weather, but we should be mainly dry,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. The high Tuesday afternoon will be in the mid-50s.
That will change as a wet weather pattern descends upon Kansas City.
“We will start out early in the morning (Wednesday) with rain rolling in,” Ritter said. “Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast throughout the day. As we head toward the evening, we could still have some activity on radar.”
There’s also a chance for severe weather on Wednesday.
“Tomorrow’s risk is a slight risk, but it does include all of the metro,” Ritter said. “Then the threat shifts off to the south and east, but we are still have a slight risk of storms in the forecast for Thursday.”
The active weather pattern, including the chance for rain, continues into the weekend.
“But the big take away: We get warmer heading into the rest of the week,” Ritter said. Highs warm to around 70 on Wednesday and in the mid-70s for the rest of the week.
