Week of rain, thunderstorms to follow sunny Mother’s Day in Kansas City
Sunday, which is also Mother’s day, will be one of the last opportunities to soak up some sun ahead of what’s shaping up to be a week of rain.
Sunday’s high will inch near 60 degrees as the skies stay mostly sunny throughout the day, according to a National Weather Service.
Wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour are also possible into Sunday evening, according to the weather service. The overnight low will drop into the mid-30s, creating a chance for frost Monday morning.
Monday’s high will dip down near 55 as clouds begin to move in alongside a 30% chance of rain during the day.
The chance of rain returns Tuesday, both before 2 p.m. and after 8 p.m., according to the weather service. The high will be in the upper 50s.
Wednesday begins a string of at least five consecutive days with thunderstorm threats and warmer temperatures.
The weather service is currently forecasting thunderstorms and at least a 60% chance of precipitation each day from Wednesday through Saturday.
Wednesday’s high is predicted to be in the upper 60s, according to the weather service. On Thursday, the high will hover in the upper 70s and stay there the rest of the week.
