Rains return to Kansas City after a dry, but cool day; frost possible on Saturday
It’ll feel more like April rather than early May in Kansas City Wednesday as afternoon highs are expected to reach only into the 60s, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We are expecting our temperatures to be below average, topping out in the mid-60s at best with partly cloudy skies,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
The typical high for this time of year in Kansas City is in the lower 70s.
“If you’re outside enjoying this refreshing air mass, know that the pollen and mold counts are both in the high category and we really won’t see any rain today that will be washing away any of the pollen,” Ritter said.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The chance for rain will return Thursday afternoon and evening, continuing into to Friday morning. This will set the metro up for a soggy finish to the week, she said.
“We are watching Saturday morning for the potential of a frost,” Ritter said.
Highs will remain in the 60s through the weekend.
No severe weather is expected from Thursday’s widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.
