Thunderstorms heading for Kansas City late Monday morning, and again Monday night
The Kansas City metro can expect a slight reprieve from rain Sunday afternoon before two rounds of thunderstorms roll into the area Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday morning’s overcast skies accompany a 20% chance of rain before 10 a.m., according to local meteorologists. The clouds should begin clearing by late morning.
Sunday’s high is 74 and the overnight low is 54.
Two more rounds of rain are expected to roll through the metro area Monday, this time with the chance of strong to severe storms, according to the weather service in Pleasant Hill.
A 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms is likely after 10 a.m. Monday as temperatures peak at 65.
Hail, wind gusts up to 26 miles per hour and up to three-quarters of an inch or rain are possible during the first round of Monday storms, according to the weather service.
Another storm system is expected to hover over the metro area between 7 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday as the low dips down to 51. There’s a 40% chance of rain.
Tuesday looks partially sunny and windy, with highs in the upper 60s.
Wednesday will again be sunny and in the 70s, followed by the chance for more rain Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
