Brief break from rain, highs in the 70s expected in Kansas City before storms return
After the fog and clouds clear out, it’ll be a lovely afternoon in the Kansas City area as temperatures climb into the mid-70s, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We should have ample sunshine throughout the day,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
But the brief dry period won’t last long.
“Tomorrow rain chances return first thing in the morning for some of you and we’ll have off-and-on rain and few thunderstorms as well for your Friday,” Ritter said. “But then we will settle in for a pretty dry forecast for the weekend before we have more active weather next week.”
The high on Friday will be in the mid-60s and gradually warm up into the 70s over the weekend. The normal high for this time of year in Kansas City is the upper 60s.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said in its forecast guidance for temporary outdoor structures, including tents for medical purposes, said that there will be light and variable winds Thursday.
Although there’s a chance for rain and thunderstorms Friday, no severe weather is expected.
However, tents offer no protection from lightning and should be evacuated in advance of, during and 30 minutes after thunderstorms. People should also make sure their tents were set up and anchored according to manufacturer recommendations.
