Rain in forecast Monday for Kansas City, and cooler temperatures this week
The weather forecast calls for rain throughout much of Monday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank.
The rain may move into the area Sunday night, and will reach much of the metro area by 9 a.m. Monday, said Frank, who provides weather updates to The Star. Some parts of the area may see the rain let up in the afternoon.
“I do expect it to be a fairly rainy Monday,” Frank said. “There will be some breaks later in the afternoon, I think in terms of intensity and coverage and most of this is out of there throughout the rest of the day.”
The rain may help alleviate the effects of pollen and fire danger left over from windy conditions this weekend.
On Sunday, Frank said pollen counts were high and wind was still blowing from the south, which had contributed to elevate fire risks this week.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
“The latest update from last Friday continues really up those pollen numbers and with these windy days we’ve had we feel it, even though it’s pretty dry outside,” Frank said.
“We’re going to continue to see pretty decent conditions but also notice that as we spring forward, we feel the allergies.”
After a rainy Monday, the weather will be a little cooler to start the week. High temperatures are forecast at 59 Monday and 57 Tuesday.
