Red flag warning in KC Saturday afternoon but rain expected Sunday night
Kansas City residents should be aware of an elevated risk of fire Saturday during what is expected to be a warm but windy start to the weekend.
Due to wind speeds and dry weather a red flag warning will be in effect Saturday afternoon. However, that dry weather could end with rain Sunday night said FOX4 meteorologists Alex Countee and Garry Frank in weather updates for The Star.
“Temperatures will be very nice but it will also be very windy,” Countee said.
The red flag warning, Countee said, will stay in effect from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday.
During the rest of the day, he said, there will be a mix of sun and clouds as the temperature steadily rises to a high of 67 degrees.
On Sunday, Countee said, the temperature will continue to climb to a high of 70 degrees.
It’ll be “a great weekend overall to get outside and enjoy,” Frank said.
After the clocks spring forward an hour Saturday night the weekend is expected to end with rain showers Sunday night into Monday. Frank said the rain will start around 9 p.m. but clouds will move into the area in the afternoon.
After that, he said, temperatures are expected to cool down into the high 50s and 60s throughout the week.
Rain chances will return on Thursday, he said.
