Snow in forecast for Kansas City region Tuesday night
The Kansas City area will likely see snow overnight Tuesday, but the heavier snowfall will be to the east, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Between now and early tomorrow morning, a dusting of snow is not out of the question,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “The highest total I expect here in town is about an inch and that might be closer to the east side of Kansas City.”
To the east of the metro area, between 2 and 3 inches of snow is expected.
“Later on today, a winter weather advisory will go into effect for areas east of Kansas City and down to our south and west,” Ritter said. “Those are the two locations that have the best chance for a little bit higher snowfall totals.”
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
In the Kansas City area, part of Tuesday will be dry, she said.
“The onset of the rain, wintry mix and the snow now looks like it will be more this afternoon and that will coincide with our potential to see a little of snow. Initially it may just be a rain or wintry mix event that we have to deal with.”
While high temperatures are expected to be in the 30s Tuesday and Wednesday, a gradual warm up will end the week with highs in the 40s on Thursday and Friday, 50s on Saturday and around 60 on Sunday.
