Saturday will be day to get outdoors in Kansas City; rain to turn Sunday soggy
If you can choose which day to get outdoors in the Kansas City area the next few days, Saturday should be at the top of your list, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.
“For the day today, enjoy the sunshine because that’s about all we have,” said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star. “Temperatures are going to struggle. We will be up to around 30 degrees at best for our afternoon highs.”
And then, temperatures will tumble overnight.
“Starting your morning off on Friday, it will be very, very cold,” she said. “We are down into the teens and the wind pushes the wind chills into the single digits.”
Temperatures, however, will begin to warm with highs reaching the 40s on Friday and then the 50s on Saturday.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
“Saturday will be the pick day to get outdoors and to enjoy the nice weather before all the cloud cover starts to pull on in,” Bogowith said.
A storm system is expected to move into the Kansas City area for the second half of Sunday, she said.
“Steady rain is expected. Cold rain is expected with high temperatures in the 40s,” Bogowith said.
Cold air is expected to wrap around on the back end of the storm system, transitioning the rain into a wintry mix, including a little light snow for some early Monday, she said.
The weather pattern is expected to stay active headed into the work week with even colder air, she said. Highs next week are expected to be in the 20s and 30s.
