There will be sunshine, but don’t expect it to get warm in Kansas City
The Kansas City metro got off to a cold start Thursday as wind chills dropped into the single digits early in the morning, according to readings at Kansas City International Airport.
“Later on today we are going to see the sun returning but it is not going to get warm,” said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “Afternoon highs will be topping out around 30 degrees and we will have some below-freezing temps overnight as well.”
Temperatures overnight Thursday are expected to dip into the teens.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
Temperatures will rebound Friday, climbing into the low 40s. The typical high for this time of year is the mid-40s. Temperatures will climb into the 50s on Saturday and then back into the lower 40s on Sunday, Ritter said.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said widespread rain is likely Sunday night into Monday, with between .75 and 1.25 inches of rain possible. Minor flooding also could be possible.
