Warmer air moving into KC area this weekend; chance for wintry precipitation next week
Cooler temperatures will persist for at least another day before they start to warm up in the Kansas City area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
Then, after a warm, sunny weekend, the cold weather is expected to return with a chance for some wintry precipitation.
Friday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies, and temperatures are expected to be close to 40 degrees.
“The cold air that’s going to be in place tomorrow will move away tomorrow (Friday) night into Saturday morning,” Lauria said in a weather update to The Star. “That opens up the floodgates to a nice, warm air mass that’s going to build into the area through Saturday into Sunday and linger for at least the first part of the day on Monday before colder air starts to sweep in behind that.”
Saturday will be sunny with a high of 51. The sunshine will continue Sunday with a high of 67.
Monday’s temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s, but colder weather is anticipated late in the day. Temperatures may drop below freezing Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Kansas City area could see some wintry weather, possibly snow, sleet or freezing rain, as the colder air moves in early next week, Lauria said.
