KC will see warmer temps, but melted snow refreezing overnight may leave slick spots
Increased temperatures later this week will melt some of the snow that blanketed the Kansas City area, but meteorologists warn that overnight refreezing may create some slick spots on the roads for the next few mornings, according to FOX4’s Garry Frank.
Temperatures by Tuesday and Wednesday during the afternoon hours are expected to linger at or just above freezing. Toward the end of the week, temperatures are supposed to reach the 40s, according to the forecast.
For the next few days, overnight temperatures will again drop below freezing.
Transportation officials warn that commuters in the morning should “use extra caution, especially on bridges and overpasses,” in a Twitter message from the Missouri Department of Transportation. In a separate Twitter post, the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill also warned of dense freezing fog that may impact travel and visibility early Tuesday.
“I think (in) the long term we’re in pretty good shape as we start to warm up by the end of the week as we get closer to the official first day of the winter solstice on Saturday,” Frank said. “It only looks like we’re going up from here as conditions warm up, maybe even into the 50s.”
