Drivers heading out on Kansas City area highways can once again see live views of any traffic slowdowns or crashes along their intended routes before they hit the road.

Live camera views have returned to KC Scout’s website after a cyberattack forced the system to shut down in late April, the Missouri and Kansas departments of transportation announced Tuesday in a joint news release.

The restoration of live camera views on the www.kcscout.net website is the second major restoration of the KC Scout service for the public. In late June, digital message boards along the area highways began displaying real-time information.

Full restoration efforts are still underway, including the KC Scout’s mobile app, real-time cameras on MoDOT’s and KDOT’s traveler maps and stream access for media organizations. The transportation departments did not provide an estimate as to when those services would be restored.
