Two men in Missouri are facing prison time after prosecutors said they kidnapped a 2-year-old girl because they believed the toddler’s dad stole from one of them.

Kendal “KD” White, 20, pleaded guilty Sept. 8 to one count of kidnapping, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri. Cam’Ron Henderson, 20, pleaded guilty to the same charge on Aug. 11.

White’s attorney told McClatchy news in an email that his client is “young and made a terrible mistake and he has taken full responsibility for his actions.”

McClatchy News reached out to Henderson’s attorney Sept. 9 but did not immediately hear back.

The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 10, 2023.

White and Henderson believed a man took guns and other items from White, according to prosecutors.

The two were armed and went to the 2-year-old’s mother’s home in St. Louis County looking for the man and kicked the door in, prosecutors said.

Once they learned the man was not there, White demanded that the woman hand over her daughter, but she refused, according to prosecutors.

White hit the woman with a gun multiple times, then grabbed the girl from her arms and the two men took off with her, prosecutors said.

When an Amber Alert was issued for the girl, White paid three women to return the girl to her uncle’s home, according to prosecutors.

The kidnapping charge carries a minimum sentencing of 20 years in prison. Henderson is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 2 and White will be sentenced January 27.
