Missouri State Highway Patrol reports more Labor Day weekend crash deaths than in 2019

Thirteen people died in car crashes Labor Day weekend, according to numbers released Tuesday morning from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The time frame, which includes deaths between 6 p.m. Sept. 4 and midnight Sept. 7, also saw 274 crashes and 124 injuries. The highway patrol also reported 145 driving while intoxicated arrests and 89 drug arrests.

In 2019, nine people died over the holiday weekend and the highway patrol investigated 284 crashes.

On the water this year, the highway patrol reported 15 crashes, six injuries and seven boating while intoxicated arrests.

Last year, there were 11 boat crashes with four injuries and 10 boating while intoxicated arrests.
