Search continues for missing Overland Park woman after car found empty, police say

The car of a missing Overland Park woman was found empty Tuesday in south central Kansas, authorities said.

A statewide search continues for Jerry McConnell, 81, who has been missing for a week from Overland Park. Her 2009 Honda Accord was found unoccupied on a ranch in rural Cowley County, according to police.

Deputies are searching the area McConnell’s car was found and asking the public for help finding her.

McConnell was last seen in the Kansas City area May 17 in Harrisonville heading toward her home in Overland Park, police said.

She is a white female who is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 140 pounds. She has blue eyes, gray hair and is last known wearing black leggings and a black polka dot shirt.

McConnell may have been seen near Severy, Kansas, about 2 1/2 hours south of Overland Park, on Thursday afternoon, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
