Where did Missourians support Amendment 3 most? See how your county voted on abortion
While Republican candidates prevailed in many of Tuesday’s elections across Missouri, voters also passed Amendment 3 to restore abortion access in the state.
Amendment 3 passed with 51.61% of the popular vote in Missouri. Already, legal questions have emerged over how exactly it should be interpreted — and what restrictions to reproductive health care it will remove.
The majority of voter support for the amendment came from a handful of densely populated counties across the state — including some where the Trump/Vance presidential ticket prevailed. Hover over each county on the map to see what percentage of voters supported Amendment 3.
Amendment 3 prevailed with over 50% of the vote in seven counties as well as St. Louis City and the portion of Kansas City south of the Missouri River. Of those, only the two cities, St. Louis County, and Boone County — where Columbia is located — gave less than 50% of their votes to the Trump/Vance presidential ticket.
Jackson, Clay, Platte and Buchanan counties in the Kansas City area and St. Charles County near St. Louis all supported both Amendment 3 and the Trump/Vance ticket with more than 50% of the vote.
Support for Amendment 3 was strongest in St. Louis City, where it got just under 83% support, followed by the Kansas City Election Board’s coverage area, where it got around 80.5% support.
Opposition to the amendment was strongest in rural Wright County in south-central Missouri, which also had the strongest Trump/Vance support in the state. Other counties strongly opposed to Amendment 3 included Bollinger, Osage and Barton counties.
