Whether you’re voting early or on Election Day, you’ll want to know ahead of time what your ballot will have on it.

In addition to voting in the presidential election for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, Kansas City area voters have many state and local issues on the ballot. They will choose Kansas legislators and the Missouri governor, and decide the future of abortion and minimum wage in the Show Me State.

Coming to your polling place prepared helps the election process go faster for you and your neighbors.

You can bring a printed sample ballot or notes on paper or your phone, according to Missouri and Kansas election laws.

Here’s what to know about sample ballots for the Nov. 5, 2024, general election.

Where can I find my sample ballot?

You can find your Kansas or Missouri sample ballots on each secretary of state’s website by entering your name and information.

Show Me State residents can also find their sample ballots on their local election board’s website. Here are the links:

On the Kansas side, Wyandotte and Johnson County residents should go to the Kansas Secretary of State’s Voter View website.

How do I research candidates and issues?

The Star and partner nonprofit newsrooms compiled the 2024 Kansas City Voter Guide, which contains information in English and Spanish.

Catch up on The Star’s political coverage on the KansasCity.com elections section, and learn about Missouri’s hot button ballot questions on abortion, minimum wage and more.

While The Star’s news staff remains neutral on political issues, the opinion writers share their recommendations in the form of editorial board endorsements.
