Why he is a Republican: “In the current environment that we are in, I see Republicans as the only pro-American party. I see what the Democrats are doing right now, they’re only tearing it down. I don’t want to say, ‘Hate America,’ but they seem to be coming from the position that America is not what’s right with the world, America’s what’s wrong with the world. I see it as we are a light in the world and throughout history. We have been a great force for good.”
Positions: Smaller government, pro-life.
He’s pro-2nd Amendment: “I don’t see it as a hunting issue. The 2nd Amendment is about self-protection and protection against tyranny.”
On the environment: “I’m not a climate change denier. I believe humans create climate change. I don’t see how we’re going to be able to change that without completely collapsing our economy. It is a problem, but humans have been adapting since the beginning of time. I don’t see it as an existential threat.”
On immigration, “I don’t think families ought to be separated. But I think one solution to this whole thing is to build a wall. I think immigration is great economically, and they do provide a benefit for this country. I just think we need to do it in a responsible manner, which means controlling our southern border.”
On Brett Kavanaugh’s U.S. Supreme Court confirmation: “I saw it as a he said, she said. He had corroboration for this story, well, partial corroboration. She had no corroboration. I see it as a problem with due process in this country. An accusation is not enough to destroy a person’s career no matter how much we sympathize with the victim.”
On Donald Trump: “There are a lot of things our president says that I don’t like, things I don’t agree with — especially moral issues. A lot of people don’t think he is a very morally upstanding person. And, you know what? That might be true. But you can see for yourself the results his policies are having on this country. GDP is going up. Foreign countries respecting us again. I’m really a fan of his foreign policies. We haven’t started any new wars.”
