Why she is a Democrat: “I am a Democrat because I strongly believe it is the people’s party, trying to help people and their circumstances and make it better. Right now, the people, in general, are not being listened to. We are being cast aside for people who have more power, people who have more money, people who have it better off. We see problems, but we are so patriotic in that we also see the potential to fix them. And I think that is something the Republican party has lost.”
Positions: Pro-women’s right to choose, pro-government regulations in protecting average citizens.
She’s pro-2nd Amendment: “I do have guns, myself. We grew up on a farm. I grew up in a household that has guns, but I think, once again, regulations are important in ensuring that children are protected, they don’t get guns themselves, aren’t hurt by guns.”
On the environment: “It’s not even a question if climate change is real. It’s more of a question of what are people going to do about climate change.” Supports greater economic investment in solar, wind and other sources of energy aside from fossil fuels. “It could be a big part of our economy.”
On immigration: “There definitely shouldn’t be a wall. We don’t need to be taking children away from their families. When I worked in D.C., that is one of the biggest things people would call about. People cried on the phone, just so emotionally distraught that children were being kept in cages away from their mothers and fathers.” She supports the DREAM Act and DACA for children of immigrants who arrived in the U.S. illegally
On Brett Kavanaugh’s U.S. Supreme Court confirmation: “She was definitely telling the truth,” she said of Christine Blasey-Ford and her accusation of sexual assault. “It is so hard knowing he is on the Supreme Court, especially because of the way he acted in his testimony, how he blamed the left. That is not how a judge who is supposed to be independent should act.”
On Donald Trump: “He is not helping the country in any way, shape or form. I think he is actually hurting the republic. I am opposite of most things he is for. Morally, I don’t really see any of his morals come into play, if he has morals. I believe everyone has good in them, but it’s really been hard to find some good in Donald Trump.”
