For the second time this year, Kansas City’s Mill Creek Park is the site of a rally in protest of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Thousands of “No Kings” protests are taking place nationwide on Oct. 18, as demonstrators argue the administration’s actions have threatened constitutional freedoms.

Demonstrators are gathering in Kansas City and across the globe to protest “unwarranted arrests of U.S. citizens, the erosion of voting rights, improper use of the military, and endangerment of free speech,” organizers said in a news release.

In June, people turned out for the first “No Kings” protest in Kansas City, said Beverly Harvey, an organizer with Indivisible KC. Harvey said her group is anticipating a larger turnout for “No Kings 2.0.”

“People are just getting fed up,” Beverly said. “So, it’s going to be huge.”

Indivisible’s national chapter selected Kansas City as an “anchor” city, or location known to host prominent, large-scale events for the “No Kings” rallies. Anchor events are also taking place in New York, Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco, New Orleans and outside the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Protests are also taking place in other cities across the Kansas City metro Saturday. Events are happening in Excelsior Springs, Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Platte City, Kansas City, Kansas, and Overland Park, as well as at dozens of other sites across Kansas and Missouri.
