KC mayor calls Biden ‘one of the finest public servants,’ signals donation to Harris
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas touted President Joe Biden as “one of the finest public servants in our nation’s history” after Biden announced Sunday he was dropping out of the presidential race.
Lucas, in a post on X, also thanked Biden for his service.
“His presidency saw us rise from challenges of the pandemic era to rising health, safety, and prosperity for our country,” Lucas said. “I thank him for his work for the American people.”
Lucas, who is a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, said he looked forward to the Democratic Party presenting voters with “a clear choice for progress for all—particularly in areas too often overlooked in Middle America—over division and chaos.”
The Kansas City mayor did not directly announce an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. However, in a follow up post, he posted a screenshot indicating that he donated money to Harris.
Lucas, in another post, said he met with Harris earlier this year and described her as “brilliant, experienced, personable, relatable, and cared deeply about issues confronting our families in America’s towns and cities.”
“I am excited for all to get to know her,” he said.
