Early voting for primary starts Saturday in Johnson County. Here’s what to know

Nine early voting locations will open in Johnson County on Saturday, July 16. Anyone registered to vote in Johnson County can vote early at any of these locations, without providing an excuse. All you need to bring is a valid photo ID in order to cast your ballot.

Voters must be registered for a political party in order to vote for that party’s candidates. However, August’s primary election also includes a ballot initiative on the right to abortion. You do not need to be affiliated with any political party in order to vote on this measure or on the Board of County Commissioners Chair race.

If you live in the 5th District, you also do not have to be registered with a political party to vote in the primary for that county commission race.
