Couple found shot dead in car days before first wedding anniversary, IL cops say
Days before their first wedding anniversary, a Wisconsin couple was found shot and killed in a vehicle in traffic, Illinois authorities say.
When officers in Harvard were dispatched for a report of a vehicle with its hazard lights on Oct. 6, they found two people dead inside, according to the Harvard Police Department.
Both victims had been fatally shot, investigators said, adding that a gun was found inside the vehicle.
Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman said their deaths could potentially be a murder-suicide, but a final determination has not been made, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
The couple was identified by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office as Rachel Dumovich, 29, and Brandon Dumovich, 30, according to Shaw Local. They were from Sharon, Wisconsin.
Their autopsies were reportedly scheduled for Oct. 9.
According to their wedding profile on TheKnot.com, the Dumoviches got married Oct. 12, 2024. They described themselves as “middle school sweethearts” who began dating in 2022 after 15 years of friendship.
Hours before her death, Rachel Dumovich had posted a photo of her and her husband on Facebook. She also shared a photo from Greece, where they spent their honeymoon in November.
Police said there is no threat to the public.
