Man attacked with hatchet while walking through park on way home, OK cops say
An Oklahoma man was arrested after police say he attacked a man with a hatchet.
Around 11 p.m. Sept. 11, a man was walking home when he cut through a park, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
As he was walking, he passed by a man and woman sitting down on a bench. Not long after, the man sitting on the bench, later identified as 39-year-old Michael Jacobs, attacked him with a hatchet, hitting him multiple times in the head, police said.
Jacobs stopped hitting the man, who was able to run to a nearby home and call for help, according to police.
The man was taken to a hospital with “severe head injuries.”
Jacobs was spotted walking near a creek holding a hatchet, according to police, and officers found him shortly after and arrested him. The hatchet was found in the creek and a pellet gun was found in the car Jacobs arrived at, police said.
Two people who were with Jacobs were questioned then released.
Jacobs was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
