Woman pinned her mom with car, killing her, Ohio officials say. She’s sentenced
A woman accused of killing her mother by pinning her against a wall with a car was sentenced to prison in Ohio.
The 24-year-old daughter pleaded guilty in July to felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
On June 15, 2024, Miami Township police were called to a home for a domestic situation between Anna Millette and her mother, Joyce Millette, according to a Facebook post by police.
Anna Millette pinned her mother against a garage wall with a vehicle and when officers arrived and tried to break the windows to free Joyce Millette, Anna Millette reversed and struck two cops, police said.
Police tased Anna Millette and arrested her after a chase that ended with her crashing, authorities said.
Joyce Millette died from her injuries, police said.
Anna Millette’s father spoke in court and asked the judge to have compassion for his daughter, WCPO reported.
“For nearly a decade, (Joyce) fought tirelessly to secure mental health care for Anna, who had long struggled with a serious mental illness,” Richard Millette said, according to the outlet. “Despite her unwavering dedication, Joyce faced insurmountable barriers: Limited access to care, systemic delays and a patchwork of services that never amounted to the sustained help that Anna needed. These failures contributed significantly to the tragedy that ultimately claimed Joyce’s life ... Joyce’s death was not an act of malice. It was the result of an acute and devastating psychotic episode in which Anna lost touch with reality.”
“Joyce’s love was as genuine as it was profound,” her obituary said. “Her natural gift for growing daylilies, which showered a rainbow of colors, and her support for the Monarch butterfly and other species, filled the earth with a touch of Heaven’s presence.”
Millette was sentenced to 21 to 26 years in prison, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
