A 16-year-old boy was arrested after officials say he tried to kill his mother with a pair of pruning shears in Wisconsin.

Ramone A. Waupoose was charged as an adult Aug. 7 with attempted first-degree homicide, use of a dangerous weapon and reckless injury, court records show.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Suamico on July 16 for reports that a woman had been attacked, WBAY reported.

The mother told deputies that Waupoose returned to the home after running away a few days before and was upset his mom deleted rap videos off his YouTube account, according to a criminal complaint, the news outlet reported.

His mother wrote a statement saying she was going through Waupoose’s phone when he snatched it from her and locked himself in his room, WLUK reported.

“I told him to not leave the house and I monitored him through the cameras. I could tell that he was very angry. When he ate he was pacing like a caged tiger. His behavior got creepier after we got home then started to gather up all the knives, any sharp kitchen utensils, or anything sharp. I also took the drill, hammers, and screw drivers and locked them in my car,” she said in the statement, according to the outlet.

Waupoose turned the power off in the house, and when his mother went to the power box in the basement, he attacked her with pruning shears, WBAY reported, citing the criminal complaint. She got away with her 12-year-old son and called 911, the outlet reported.

The mother had to get staples and stitches on her head and was injured on her face, arms and backs, court records said, according to WBAY.

Authorities said they found 2-foot pruning shears at the home, and when they searched Waupoose’s phone, they found messages talking about how he planned to kill his mom and threatening to “kill and gut his ex-girlfriend,” WLUK reported.

Waupoose was given a $50,000 bond and was ordered to have no contact with the victims.

He is due back in court for a competency hearing on Aug. 25.

Suamico is about a 10-mile drive north of Green Bay.
