10-year-old boy hit and killed by car as he crossed the street, Illinois cops say
A 10-year-old boy was crossing a busy road when a passing car struck him, Illinois police said.
His mother told WLS she thought her son was home safe and playing video games with his brother in their Montgomery home.
Vincente Poban was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was later airlifted to a Chicago hospital due to his critical condition July 31, police said in an Aug. 4 news release.
“The last thing I remember my son telling me was, ‘Mom, I love you so much.’ And gave me a big hug,” his mother, Andrea Lopez, told WLS.
Vincente died from his injuries Aug. 2, according to police.
“He was loved by many people and will be dearly missed,” his mother said in a GoFundMe.
Police said they are continuing to investigate.
Montgomery is about a 45-mile drive southwest from Chicago.
