A man visiting Arizona from California drowned while trying to get a hat in a river, police said.

On July 5, 48-year-old Manuel Guillermo Segura, of Covina, California, went to retrieve a hat in the Colorado River, according to a Facebook post by Bullhead City, Arizona, police.

He swam out to the hat but didn’t resurface, officers said.

Dive teams and air, land and water units were deployed and searched the area, police said.

On July 7, Segura’s body was found in the river in what officers said was an accidental drowning.

Bullhead City is about a 230-mile drive northwest from Phoenix.
