A mom shot through her teen daughter’s bedroom door to scare her during a fight, then the bullet struck her, Tennessee police said.

The 36-year-old mom is charged with aggravated assault and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

McClatchy News is not identifying the mom to protect the identity of her daughter.

The mom and her 17-year-old daughter got in a physical altercation at their apartment June 9, then the daughter went to her bedroom and closed the door, police said.

The mom then grabbed her gun and fired a round at her daughter’s door in an effort to “place the victim in fear,” according to police.

The 17-year-old was struck in the thigh, and the mom was arrested when officers arrived, police said.
