A 34-year-old woman died after being hit and dragged by a car in a hit-and-run crash, Las Vegas police reported.

The woman was running across a street not at a crosswalk at 3:20 a.m. Monday, May 5, when a black 2013 Dodge Challenger hit her, police said in a May 6 news release.

The woman was dragged beneath the car before being left in the road, police said. The driver fled down the street.

Emergency crews determined the woman could not be revived and she was pronounced dead, police said.

The accused driver, Roxxanne Barela, 19, of Hemet, California, later surrendered to police. She faces a charge of hit-and-run, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call 702-828-3595.
