Hidden cameras found by parents inside bathrooms at a dance studio for children have been turned over to police, California authorities reported.

Parents found the cameras inside several restrooms at the Hermosa School of Dance and Music, the Hermosa Beach Police Department said in a Monday, May 5, news release.

They turned the cameras over to school staff, who notified police at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, police said.

“This is like a safe and sacred place for many children for the last over 25 years. So, I’m horrified,” owner Liliana Somma told KABC.

The school serves students ages 2 to 18, police said. The cameras were found in unisex bathrooms used by children, parents and teachers.

They were found hidden in wicker baskets inside the bathrooms, KTLA reported.

An investigation into the cameras continues “with the utmost seriousness,” police said in the release.

Somma told KABC she will install hallway cameras to monitor access to the studio and sweep it regularly for hidden cameras.

“Everything is being done to make it as safe as possible, and so that’s reassuring,” Jessica Torres, a master teacher at the studio, told the station. “It’s a complete shock. Nothing like this has ever happened.”

Police ask anyone with information to call 310-318-0360.
