An Ohio man was arrested after officials said he killed his father then called 911 to report himself.

Micaiah Swindler, 27, is charged with murder, according to court records.

Attorney information for Swindler was not available.

In the afternoon on April 21, Marysville Police officers were called to a home after a man called 911 and said he had killed his father, according to an affidavit.

When officers arrived at the home, they found Joseph Swindler in an upstairs bathroom dead, court records said.

Micaiah Swindler was arrested and later told investigators he stabbed his father five times, first in the head and later in the neck “to put him out of his misery,” the affidavit said. Afterward, he said he “cleaned himself up, changed his clothes” and called 911, according to the court record.

On the 911 call, the son is heard telling dispatchers “I’m not gonna lie, I just killed my father,” WCMH reported. When asked why, he said “God told me to,” according to the news outlet.

He also told the dispatcher “I had orders,” WSYX reported.

When he appeared in court, the judge asked Micaiah Swindler if there was anything he would like to say about what his bond should be, and he politely responded, “You know, despite the heaviness, I hope everyone has a good day today,” according to WSYX.

His bond was set at $1,000,000.

Marysville is about a 35-mile drive northwest of Columbus.
