30-year-old daughter told to move out kills dad, stabs mom, Florida cops say

A dad told his adult daughter she needed to move out, then she’s accused of arming herself with a knife and stabbing her parents, Florida authorities said.

The father, 74-year-old Richard Langer, died of his injuries, but the mother survived the 2022 attack, according to prosecutors.

Now, Christina Adams, 33, has been sentenced to life in prison after she was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, the State Attorney’s Office for the Fifth Judicial Circuit said April 17.

McClatchy News reached out to Adams’ attorney for comment April 18 but did not immediately receive a response.

Adams, who was 30 at the time, was living in a converted studio apartment on her parents’ property separate from the main house in Ocala, according to an arrest affidavit filed by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams told investigators that a couple months earlier, her dad told her she needed to move out soon so her other sibling could move into the studio, deputies said.

The morning of Sept. 16, 2022, Adams said she went into the main house to do laundry when her dad asked to speak with her and said she needed to move out by the next day, according to investigators.

Adams then went back to her studio, put on gloves and shoe covers and armed herself with a “taser pen” and a knife, deputies wrote in the affidavit.

She went back into her parents’ house and said she found her dad in one of the rooms sitting at the computer with his back to her, according to investigators.

She recalled she used her “taser pen” to shock him, then she stabbed him in the arm, deputies said.

Hearing the altercation, her mother came into the room, then Adams stabbed her in the chest, according to deputies.

Adams recalled that she turned back to her dad and stabbed him in the chest multiple times, deputies wrote in the affidavit.

Thinking they were both dead, Adams told deputies she threw the clothes she was wearing in the wash and cleaned the knife with bleach, before heading to Publix to meet her wife, according to the report.

The wife told investigators they grocery shopped without Adams mentioning anything about the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

In the meantime, Langer called 911 from the house and said his daughter had stabbed him and his wife, adding his wife was “fading fast,” deputies said.

First responders took the couple to a hospital in critical condition, and deputies pulled over Adams and her wife heading back from the grocery store, deputies said.

Adams told investigators she didn’t have a plan of what to do with her parents’ bodies when she got back. She shared she had an undiagnosed mental health disorder and had suffered abuse in the past.

The parents underwent surgery before Langer died two days later, according to family and law enforcement.

Langer, a veteran and pilot, had nine children and was an “all-around amazing human being,” family wrote in his obituary.

Ocala is about an 80-mile drive northwest from Orlando.
