A martial arts instructor accused of performing sex acts with a minor has been arrested, California police say.

San Jose police got a report about a minor being sexually abused just before 11 p.m. Jan. 17, the San Jose Police Department said in a March 25 news release.

Officers identified Bernie Barrozo, 28, as a suspect, police said, adding that they learned Barrozo was an instructor at a local martial arts studio.

He also once worked as a “behavioral therapist for children with autism in San Jose,” police said.

Following an investigation, detectives got a warrant for Barrozo’s arrest, police said.

Barrozo was arrested March 6 and booked into jail on counts of unlawful intercourse and oral copulation with a minor, police said.

Given Barrozo’s access to children during his employment, police are asking anyone with additional information to contact them at 408-277-3214.
