A pickup driver ran over a man on a scooter and dragged him under the truck more than 900 feet to his death, Tennessee authorities said.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is now searching for the driver, who’s accused of fleeing the area after the March 3 evening crash.

The unidentified male victim pulled out of a Dollar General parking lot and was riding his electric scooter along the shoulder of a road when he tried to cross the street and was hit by the driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, police said in a news release.

The scooter rider got trapped under the truck, which dragged him for nearly 1,000 feet as witnesses saw sparks flying, according to police.

The scooter and the rider eventually got “dislodged,” and the driver fled the area, police wrote.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
