Group of 5 held hostage as accused thieves steal $44K in cash and jewelry, PA cops say
Four armed men broke into a home in Philadelphia and robbed a family of five, authorities told news outlets.
Police said in a news release that the break-in occurred around 5:15 a.m. March 2 in the Mayfair neighborhood. The men are accused of making off with $19,000 in cash and about $25,000 in jewelry, along with the family’s five iPhones, officers said and WCAU reported.
The victims were a 15-year-old boy, 25-year-old woman, 29-year-old man, 55-year-old woman and 61-year-old man, according to police.
Officers said the thieves took off in a white Honda with damage to the front, according to WTXF. Police told the outlet they tracked one of the stolen iPhones to a nearby highway.
Police said the thieves are likely between the ages of 20 and 30. They wore ski masks, and three wore black coats while a fourth wore a green coat, officers said. Tips can be directed to 215-686-TIPS (8477), according to MetroPhiladelphia.
