A homeowner got alerted by his house’s security system and found an intruder sleeping in a bed, Arizona officers said.

On Feb. 27, a Prescott homeowner called Yavapai County deputies to report an intruder, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.

When authorities got to the home, they found the homeowner “confronting the suspect in the backyard,” officers said.

It was later learned that the intruder entered the house through an unlocked back door and decided to get some sleep, officers said.

The homeowner told deputies that his security system gave him an alert around 4 a.m., and when he looked around the property, he found the stranger sleeping in a bed, officers said.

Deputies found a backpack filled with knives, ammunition and electronics close to where the intruder was lying, officers said.

He was arrested and charged with entering and remaining in a residential structure and possessing deadly weapons, among other charges, deputies said.

Yavapai County is about a 100-mile drive northwest of Phoenix.
