5-year-old, two others found dead in crashed car were shot, AL cops say. Man charged
An Alabama man is charged seven months after a 5-year-old boy, his mother and a man were found dead in a crashed car, police said.
Jacorrian McGregor, 25, is charged with capital murder in the July deaths of Landon Brooks, Arkia Berry, 28, and Eric Ashley Jr., 28, the Birmingham Police Department said in a Feb. 26 news release.
Police said they responded to a car crash in the front yard of a Birmingham home at about 5:30 p.m. July 13, where they discovered shots had been fired into the car.
Landon, Berry and Ashley were all pronounced dead at the scene in what police determined was a “targeted shooting,” according to a July news release. A motive was not made clear.
The mother and son’s loved ones gathered at Wahouma Park, where the child played football, in July to celebrate their lives, AL.com, which spelled the boy’s first name Landyn, reported.
“Landyn and Kia were two peas in a pod,’’ Berry’s cousin, Aniyah Berry, told the outlet. “She loved her baby so much.’’
McGregor is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond, police said.
