A Wisconsin parent was arrested after authorities said he attacked his son’s teacher in her classroom.

The 53-year-old Milwaukee man is charged with battery to a school district officer and disorderly conduct, court records show. McClatchy News is not naming the man to protect the identity of his child.

Police responded Oct. 29 to a battery complaint at Bruce Elementary School, WITI reported.

According to the criminal complaint, the father was waiting for the special education teacher inside her classroom and became aggressive when she arrived, pushing her against a wall and hitting her in the head repeatedly, the outlet reported.

The parent attacked the teacher in front of five adults and 29 students, WISN reported.

The teacher, who recognized the man as the father of one of her students, said he threatened to “beat her,” the outlet reported, citing court records.

In an interview with TMJ4, the teacher, Shericka Nelson, said the father confronted her because his son said she hit him.

“He said, ‘My son told me that you hit him and also held him while another child hit him,’” Nelson told the outlet.

Nelson said before she could finish explaining that she had been trying to separate the man’s child and another student who were hitting each other, he attacked her, according to the outlet.

A spokesperson for Milwaukee Public Schools told WISN: “Student safety remains our primary focus at MPS. When situations occur that could impact safety, the district has policies and procedures in place. We expect everyone in our buildings to always meet our standards of conduct, especially when students are present. Due to state and federal law, the district cannot comment on the circumstances of individual students and their families. The district cannot comment on personnel matters. MPS will follow its code of conduct when addressing consequences for anyone determined to be involved.”

The parent is being held at Waukesha County Jail, records show.
