Dog making himself sick from stress of shelter life. ‘Snuggle bug’ needs a home — fast
For a year and a half, a pit bull/terrier mix named Screech has expressed his “playful energy and charming personality” in an Indiana humane society and in foster care.
But as shelter life continues to wear on the 3-year-old dog, he needs a new home — fast.
“We can see how hard the shelter environment is on him — so hard that he’s making himself sick from the stress,” the Humane Society for Hamilton County said in an Aug. 14 post on Facebook. “We love him, and we’re doing everything we can, but what Screech truly needs is a calm home where he can relax and be himself.”
Screech first came to the humane society in April 2023. Since then, the “Little Georgia Screech” has been waiting for his chance to be adopted as potential owners pass him by.
It’s not for a lack of trying. Screech is known to dance happily as people pass by his kennel, hoping to be greeted with paw shakes and head pats.
The 65-pound pit bull has thrived in foster care and is described as a “big snuggle bug” who loves a nice lap.
“Whether it’s greeting you with his happy dance or showering you with affection, Screech is sure to bring joy to your day,” the shelter said in April.
The shelter said Screech isn’t attached to his name. He’s considered “excellent” with children and has done well around other dogs.
“Screech deserves to be someone’s best friend, to be invited onto a couch for cuddles, and to watch birds out a window,” the shelter said.
