Clerk picks SC lottery ticket when store didn’t have player’s choice. It ‘worked out’

A convenience store in South Carolina didn’t have the lottery ticket a player was looking for, so the clerk suggested he buy a different one.

“It worked out for the best,” the player told the South Carolina Education Lottery, according to a May 24 news release.

The scratch ticket the Clemson convenience store clerk suggested turned out to be a lucky one, and the player won $200,000, the release says.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” said the player, who asked to remain anonymous, according to the release. “But it sure was great.”

The odds to win $200,000 in the Blue Diamond Dollars game were 1-in-750,000.

Clemson is about 130 miles northwest of Columbia.
